Hm, couldn't you tell it was related to periodite, because of it's greenish color? (I haven't started studying yet, but this is a wild guess)

I can't help but disagree, politely. Galena is usually found in cube shapes, but this specimen has no cube shapes, it looks like. Also, it's too gray-black-ish to be Galena, which is way more silver. I still think it's Sphalerite.  :)
