I would say late, mainly because that's the type that caused the Irish Potato Famine. It's also more commonly known. Perhaps it would not be bad to learn both, though...

I read the rules it doesn't talk about that list of Microbes you need to study... But there's no way they took it off, so are there any changes from last year to this year?
Year: Event (state, nats); alternate/team (state, nats)
'11: Microbe (1, 17), Protein (2, 22), Experimental (3, --), Helicopters (11, 15), Mission(--,22), Wind Power (--, 20); team (1, 15)
'12: Microbe Mission (1), Protein Modeling (1), Helicopters (1), Chemistry Lab(10); team (1)

There is a microbial disease list at http://soinc.org/sites/default/files/Mi ... st2012.pdf.

The expectation is that the event changes every year so, while you may be an "expert" from last year, you still have to study new things and, yes, amend your perfect cheat sheet. I assume that's what you were referring to.

i was never a "expert" to be honest
but soinc just adds new things, doesnt take old things away
guess i'll have to shrink the font one more time, make the margins smaller :|

Far as cheat sheets are concerned, especially for this event (IMO anyways), the only margin you should have is the one your printer leaves, and even that space can be filled if you're crafty. Make sure not only the font is as small as possible like you said but you minimize the negative space etc (no 6pt space after text, for example, if you're using paragraphs). Standard MLA margins do not good cheat sheets make.

To people who've participated in this event from past years, how much of the disease list is actually in the event? Thank you!

It depends entirely on the testmakers. It could be anywhere from one station, to nearly the entire test.
