Technically, for those teams who have a better shot at nationals, it's better for the state competition to use the national list rather than the abridged state list, since then they have more practice for the national tournament. Though I am glad that for now the list is smaller :P

Washington doesn't have a list ... national list it is!
So we're IDing leaves now?!
GAHHHHH I was doing so well with just the holistic view. :(
And it's embarrassing that my team hasn't started meeting yet.

No worries, my team had a grand total of 1 meeting so far. And I already bought two field guides even though I don't know if I'm doing the event or not yet.

The awkward moment when you're nowhere nearly as prepared as the people on this forum...
I've looked through some field guides but I always feel like I need more information! Of course, as a first year ornithologist last year, I was GROSSLY mistaken that I needed a giant book to place. I've received THREE paper cuts thus far.

That is not true the Audobon Ornithology field guides were very useful I won 1st in both states and regionals with those field guides don't hate on all of them till you've used all of them.

It turns out we only get 1 two-sided page of notes. What are you guys going to put on your notesheets?

For the note sheets and national tree list, are we allowed to put it in a page protector?

The problem with IDing with the Audubon is that the pictures and info are in different sections, but it does have a lot of good information considering its size. I personally would use it for studying but not at the competition.

I don't see why not. You can always take them out if the proctor says you can't.
