What if we uploaded the scores to the wiki as pdfs or word documents, similar to the text exchange? Then we wouldn't have to worry about broken links. It would also be very time consuming to put every competition into a google doc.kentuckyfan1001 wrote:Personally, I think a google doc for each state or something would be the most effective in keeping the information. However, if not, the tables are better than nothing.Paradox21 wrote:A problem though, is that many states will take the results from the previous year down when the new year begins. This would result in a bunch of broken links.amerikestrel wrote:How about a wiki page that's just a database of links to event results for as many competitions as possible, organized by state? That way they'd all be in one place and we wouldn't have to trek through state wikis to find results from several years ago.
Edit: I'd be happy to start this if the consensus is we want it.

You know what I think would be rather useful? Put gender info over on the left side with location, and division and what not; so that when you're posting you will know whether to write him or her and so forth

I don't think it's that hard to just ask and/or find out by making a mistake... I mean, would you really be that offended if someone addressed you by the wrong pronoun?harryk wrote:You know what I think would be rather useful? Re: Season 2012 - Site suggestions
The gender situation was brought up last year in a feedback thread. I'm pretty sure there was a good reason for it not being on the profiles, but I'm too lazy to find it. Here, you can look through the thread yourself: http://www.scioly.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=1885

I believe the main reason is that it would be a pain for the admins to implement, while there's a much simpler solution to the problem: just ask. Also, it's usually not that difficult to make an educated guess about someone's gender based on their personality and mannerisms. (Although scioly.org has had its fair share of rather hilarious gender mix-ups.)

I'd also suggest a way to keep posts in a given thread relevant to its original topic.

I don't know if it's that easy. I thought Skystrider, amerikestrel, and zyzzyva were girls.AlphaTauri wrote:I believe the main reason is that it would be a pain for the admins to implement, while there's a much simpler solution to the problem: just ask. And it's really not that hard - and honestly, would you really get mad? I know a lot of people thought I was a guy before (cue other people going "Wait, you're not?").

Re: Season 2012 - Site suggestions
I still have to catch myself with some of those. Still, i really don't think having gender on a profile is needed. It's no ones business, and can easily be relayed via conversation if the user is comfortable. I see no need to make it mandatory for people to know out in the open.paleonaps wrote:I don't know if it's that easy.
