Good books for Mission would include books that show examples of all kinds of simple machines since you make the mission with them.

There is this free software on http://www.algodoo.com/wiki/Download you just scroll down and it will show you something called Phun. Download the one that is compatible with your computer. It is a really awesome way to learn the laws physics and a good place to create a virtual rube goldberg machine.
