Oil spills are likely a big thing, and you'll probably see stuff on point/non-point pollution. Probably stuff on fishkills as well (when you have factories disposing waste and/or having a heat sink in the water. The water heats up and that attracts a lot of creatures like fish or aquatic mammals. Warm water doesn't hold nearly as much oxygen as cold water, so the area eventually becomes anoxic, leading to massive death. I would expect some question on identifying an area like that based on water temperature or something).

Mm, I'm not sure what to think about it. The change in topic might keep people on my team from mocking Remote. Doing Dynamic will probably help me with this event, too. There are a lot of water events now, it seems, but considering gneissisnice's post, I can see a reason for that.

Glacical runoff might also be a type of question asked. I know that was on a practice test we took, possibly 2010 nats.

Considering Earth's surface is- what, 70-75% water? It makes sense that about that many of the earth science events are about water.

I'm sort of excited for the change in topic. It didn't seem like there was too much pertaining to last year's topic on any of the tests we took, but I think that event supervisors should be able to find hydrosphere stuff pretty easily. The Aral Sea became a bit of a joke for our RS team because every single test we took last year had the Aral Sea on it at some point. By regionals and state, we'd taken to looking through the test at the beginning of our time just to make sure- yep, there it is- the Aral Sea was on it. (Same images, too!) I don't think that will change this year.

Which one is the Aral Sea picture? Is that the one on the CyFalls Remote test? I can never remember if that picture is the Gulf of California, or some other body of water.

Also, "Human Impact" as a whole is much to broad of a topic, IMHO. Now that it's a bit more narrowed down, this should be easier to study for.

The Aral Sea is the second image on the CyFalls test, yes.

Yeah. Now I remember. That was on my state test. (As was a bunch of other pictures from the CyFalls test.)
