Well, if you just took a picture of a leaf, there would be no question as to whether you could bring it in to competition. And it would not decompose or get damaged.

Decomposition wouldn't be an issue, you just have to iron the leaf between two sheets of wax paper. I think the bigger concern would be them falling out of you binder in competition, or something like that.

I just checked out Sibleys, and I haven't gotten to read it, but it looks nice for initial learning. Later, though I might use a bigger encyclopedia type book, if it is allowed.

So basically, I could have taped in small Diatoms and other small fossils into the binder, and it would be legal? I don't think that it would be either ethically correct or correct in the rules, so I doubt any leaves will be allowed.

Well, you can't three hole punch a fossil, but you could technically put a leaf in a sheet protector and put that in. That doesn't look like it's against the rules, honestly, and I can't imagine why that would be unethical at all.

the ONLY reason that i could see it NOT happening is health issues but that is HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY unlikely... Some people, other than being allegic to pollen are allergic to the trees themselves or any part of the tree.... >.< but its not as common as pollen of course.. So other then them saying no to say no.. there isn't any reason it SHOULDN'T be allowed.

I have hayfever and am allergic to grass and trees and everything organic, it seems >.<, but I don't see how it would be possible for anyone to be severely allergic to any of that stuff - as in, near-death respiratory issues or some such thing. My allergies are bad but not THAT bad, and I seriously doubt anyone would have serious enough issues with that for it to be a problem.

The usual thing describing allowed notes is "in any form from any source", so if they keep saying that then leaves would be allowed. But honestly, I can't see physical leaves as being that helpful. A picture of a leaf could have just as much detail, and it wouldn't get brown and crunchy and then start to distintegrate....
Also, wouldn't anyone who's super extremely allergic to trees have difficulties walking to the exam building? (...unless they live in the tundra)

Both extremely true. If you're deathly allergic to trees, you should also be living in a bubble. >.<

How can you be deathly allergic to ALL trees... I understand one tree, or plants in general, but there is no taxonomic group to define "tree"
