pffffffft. yeah right. welsh valley came in NINTH at states last year. while i'm pretty sure they will be back with a vengance, you shouldn't worry too much about them. BC are the ones to beat. (ichaelm, don't contradict me, ignore the fact that most of our 6th graders suck eggs)
p.s., welsh valley is the other middle school in our school district, and they don't like us much. you will see them with us at states, but we will have beaten them soundly before at regionals, for the......5th year in a row?

umm, just remember, Welsh Valley came in 3rd two years ago (Bala Cynwyd came in 4th).
Welsh Valley also comes in 2nd at regionals, which is really good. They also usually beat BC at invitationals. I wouldn't rule them out. But I'm not from Welsh Valley, so I wouldn't know what kind of team they are.
My prediction (I'm sorry if I spelled the school's name wrong):

1.) Sewickley
2.) Shady Side
3.) Bala Cynwyd (BC)
4.) Stroudsbug/Strath Haven/Welsh Valley
5.) I wouldn't know, I haven't been in Science Olympiad long enough.

How hard do you people study???

I think the Swickley-Shady-Bala-Haven/Stroudsburg prediction is pretty good but i also think that between Shady Side, Bala, Haven, and Stroudsburg, anyone could get the 2 spot. It wouldn't surprise me if someone like Stroudsburg had a good year and came in 2nd. (considering they did go to nats many times from 2006 and back). At the moment, i think the 2 spot will be very, very tight.

Our high school is (again) going nowhere. Competition is too tight.

Still plenty of time though, no matter what region your in. The competitions are soooo late this year. I pretty much agree with the predictions that people have been making. I wouldn't count out any of the other top 10 schools at states last year also (JT Lambert, Unami, Fleetwood, and Greater Nanticoke.) JT Lambert got sixth behind us (Strath Haven) last year and I hadn't heard of them. If any team can go from being unheard of to a trophy winner at states, I'm impressed.
My SHMS Team Results:
2007
Regionals- 3rd
States- 5th

2008
Regionals- 3rd
States- 5th

2009
Regionals- 2nd
States- 4th

2010
Regionals- 1st
States- 2nd
Nationals- 19th
