Re: Swap Meet 2011
License plates are a hot commodity, but anything from t-shirts to funny hats is worth trading. Pins and keychains are fine; heck, I still have a whole lanyard of assorted state pins from last year.

If it's cool or something that you can collect a bunch of, it's worth trading.

Nationals 2011: Flying Bird; team (Gelinas) ~ 7th
Nationals 2010: Optics ~ 9th; team (Gelinas) ~ 3rd
MELLO YELLO

Particularly License Plates from hard to find states. In all the craziness I with a California plate which I traded for a South Dakota (I think) plate to Kentucky plate last year.Kokonilly wrote:License plates are a hot commodity, but anything from t-shirts to funny hats is worth trading. Yeah, I got Kentucky and South Dakota license plates as well, I think. Not too bad for starting out with a hat I got from the dollar store.starpug wrote:Particularly License Plates from hard to find states. Re: Swap Meet 2011
We got a bunch of small fossils and pins from the science museum that my daughter volunteers at. They were pretty popular. We also go the cities that our students are from to donate pins, key chains and t-shirts. Our team parents all donated $10 and we ordered a bunch of small toys, games, playing cards and poppers from Oriental Trading.jordannb wrote:Hi!
I'm from ND and this happens to be the first time we're going to nationals. What are some typical things that are traded? We (I) don't want to send anything boring like North Dakota pins (they're boring; we're a boring state). I've heard from the middle schoolers who went last year that hats are a BIG deal, but is there anything else? Other than liscense plates. They're surprisingly hard to get.

see, licence plates are great and all, but they don't have much use. I loved them at the swap meet and got wisconsin, montana, and arkansas, but they are all gathering dust while my decorative plate is on display, and I use my Alaska keychain.

I never said they were useful, I just said they are extremely popular at the Swap Meetkjhsscioly wrote:starpug wrote:Particularly License Plates from hard to find states. Yeah, you will get a ton of useless stuff at the swap meet. I haven't touched 75% of the things I got last year since then.starpug wrote:I never said they were useful, I just said they are extremely popular at the Swap Meet

Re: Swap Meet 2011
Ive LOST 75% of the stuff i got last year (except the pins)!

No matter what the experiment's result, there will always be someone eager to:(a) misinterpret it(b) fake it, or (c) believe it supports his own pet theory.
