Re: Mousetrap Vehicle C
Rules say no impound but IL state required impounding of all building events and materials at U of I competition

Re: Mousetrap Vehicle C
I know there will be no impound for this event in Michigan because in addition to the rules explicitly stating that, you can look at this. There is an impound time for all building events but not for mousetrap vehicle.

Re: Mousetrap Vehicle C
it really depends on who is running the event because the rules say that this is an impound but every event we did had no impound
It's always tea time somewhere in the world...... Come to think of it... It's my tea time...

Actually, the national rules say that there is NO IMPOUND for mousetrap. I really wish they would keep it consistent for future events...Draylon Fogg wrote:it really depends on who is running the event because the rules say that this is an impound but every event we did had no impound

so it was a simple anchor-like design. as the mousetrap bar goes down, the hammer/anchor goes down and stops the vehicle...illusionist wrote:what was the braking system? I'm just curious as to how it could have been a violation...
but i feel so stupid, i dont see how i missed the rule stating "no part of mtv may touch the ground at any time except wheels and drive strings.."
(i also partly blame the regional people for not catching the construction violation)

Oh okay, honestly though, don't you think it would have been easier just to go with the wingnut system?

on a side note, troy's vehicle has been violating this rule (though not, of course, in the same way) for the past 2 years.
anyone going to nationals? do me a favor and look at their vehicle and bust them for me-- their lever bar thing always hits the ground because the front wheels are too small. that shouldn't be allowed since the only things that can touch the ground are the wheels and drive strings.
i wish the event supervisor would read the rules really carefully...

Re: Mousetrap Vehicle C
I agree, someone who will be at nationals should say something about it. It isn't fair if they get that advantage, even if it is a minor rule...

Yah I sure hope that the event sups would follow the rules as they're written in the manuals. Otherwise, it wouldn't be fair.
