While we were sad we didn't make nationals, we were actually happier that is wasn't like last year and missing it by 2 points.

FullMetal: How long did your helicopter go? Ours was 2 min 12 sec and we were second. You guys were first.
Glad to hear it.

I'm also a bit disappointed we didn't make Nationals, but that's because I really wanted our seniors to go. I'm also very disappointed I couldn't help my Astronomy partner (my brother) keep his state championship in that event. 3rd in the state isn't bad, though.

We had 2:19. Actually, I hung out with your team for a little bit before Sumo Bots, and I thought we would get second when I heard your time. Your team did very well. And although I didn't get to talk to you, I did see you a lot (the blue hair :D). I was the girl with braids.
2'19'' is an awesome time! I was standing there with my partner and we were like "um whens it gunna come down?" lol cuz we had never seen it fly that long or record before that was only 1'08''
It's always tea time somewhere in the world...... Come to think of it... It's my tea time... :D

Haha, I wish I would have been there! I was playing spoons in the stairwell near my homeroom while Helicopters was going on. Too bad, I would have loved to see it. You had a really great time: I'm sure you got second overall, and even then just barely.

I crashed as soon as I got home last night... it was a long day. I guess you all know what happened by now. We were just out of our depth. Moving up to C finally hit hard at state; medal-wise, it was my worst tournament since my first year. (I took first overall in Sounds of Music and second overall in Experimental Design- that's it.)

I mean, we could make excuses left and right- our Sumo Bot got a bad draw, RS was too simple, yada yada yada. But the fact is, we lost by 60 points. Whaddayagonnado? File a protest because you thought you did well and didn't? (Oh... wait... didn't somebody already try that? : P)

It was nice meeting you too Maple, by the way.

And for anyone wondering, we did use Wingardium Leviosa on our Helicopter before it flew (don't know if that was clear) and it flew surprisingly well.

Haha... NO. What you may not understand is that Olathe North and Olathe East could be considered the Red Sox and Yankees of Northeast Kansas- not just in Science Olympiad, but in everything. Put simply, we don't like each other. And I'm not going to fill up the thread with anything personal against Olathe East, but I'll just say I was disappointed they won. What really made it depressing was that, during awards, whenever they would call out an event we *thought* we did well in, they'd say... "Olathe... (pause) East." That happened about 15 times during the ceremony and by the end of it we were tired of it. So OE winning: Meh. They deserve some credit, I suppose, so *applause*, but, really, I wish they accidentally switched around our names.

So, good competition everyone, and, well, time to start studying for next year.

I'm the blond Kapaun girl with braids who jumped off the stage after going on for Protein Modeling and made crazy hand motions. And oh, now I know who you were. ;)

What was that test actually like (i.e., was it project-based, like Dynamic Planet?)? That's one of my events (though I didn't compete in it at all this year), so I'd like to know; however, I can't get anything out of the people on our team who did it. Sumo Bot failed for us, too, unfortunately. I'm glad we got second, since everyone was really broken up about it.

That's right - I won't be competing in SO again until next January. That's disappointing, but at least I'll have lots of time to study. Lots.

Remote Sensing was not at all challenging, most of it was just accurate counting (or estimation if you ran out of time). The worst question on it was: "How many housing developments are in the picture from 1970?". The housing developments stood out extremely well in the picture, so it was quite clear to see how many there were and to just count them.
