Okay thanks. Also, when (attempting) to measure porosity, and putting sand into a container, would you pack it in? If you don't, then once the water is added, the sand sinks, so then do you continue pouring until it reaches the point where the sand use to be before it sank?

A perched aquifer is an aquifer in the vadose/unsaturated/aeration zone above the water table. This occurs when there is an impermeable layer of sediment, an aquiclude, or a relatively impermeable layer, an aquitard, "catches" the water that is infiltrating into the ground. I haven't seen any diagrams of it, sorry.

(I think) a perched aquifer is basically an aquifer that is located above the local water table

EDIT: the post above explains it in more depth

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capillary_action

it has something to do with suction, and defying gravity.

Capillary fringe occurs because of capillary action, so water rises against gravity creating a bumpy water line, rather than flat. Have you ever seen a capillary fringe? If not, just take a small plastic container and fill it up with gravel and half way with water. Since the gravel has spaces in between each rock/pebble/whatever, and water is adhesive, you can see that where the "water table" and "aeration zone" meet, the water makes a bumpy line, rather than flat.

Sorry if this confuses you more.

what kind of test will the map comprehension be? Will you have to answer questions about topographic maps, or just diagrams?

The rules allow for anything like that - it really depends on who you get as the test-writer.
ornithology, forestry, entomology, triple E, green generation, water quality, dynamic planet (lakes & rivers), awesome aquifers, meteorology, robot arm, write it do it. :)
A cone of depression occurs when you drop your scoop of ice cream on the ground on a hot summer day.
