You should probably look for help from people on the general forums, not just IL, especially since I don't think anyone else from IL on the forums does that event. Check out the Junkyard topic under Building Events, and you probably should actually look around it before asking a vague question like "any ideas about this event?".
Either way... GAHHH! STATES!

Well, i wouldn't count out IMSA for sure i heard they did pretty well at their regional, but New Trier is definitely going that's for sure. With that large of a student population, they probably don't have such a thing as a "weak" class, i'm sure every year they gain as many bright hardworking kids as they do lose to graduation.

It's that second place spot though, who knows how it'll go. I just want my school to make top 10.
2011 Season Events~

Fossils (Regionals ~1st) (State ~6th)
Towers (Regionals ~1st) (State ~3rd)
Helicopter (Regionals -3rd gahhh) (State ~5th)
Wind Power (Regionals ~1st) (State ~3rd TIERED!)

Hooray for getting everything i wanted?

IMSA still has a great class, as many people from my middle school nats team went on to IMSA. I wouldn't count them out after regionals...many team rebound by state.

Yeah that's a good point. At my regional Stevenson sweeped 1st in 9 events, and placed in all. They're solid for sure. IMSA is good but from what I've seen of them this year in SO and other academic stuff they're a bit weaker than normal. How well did they do last year? I know Stevenson & New Trier went but idk how far back IMSA was...

Yeah I see my school placing in 3 events, but I can't imagine us going to nats.
I foresee New Trier and Stevenson going...

Well, a lot is still up to chance, and sweeping regionals means nothing. My team place in every event but robot, and it doesn't seem to influence where we are in state regardless of how we do at regionals.

haha yeah that is true, but they also made nats last year and the year before so I think it holds a little more weight, also considering College of Lake County regional is one of the larger ones out there...
But yes, what happens at regionals really makes little difference b/c at state everyone changes everything. Especially building events, the average composite time for heli was around 50 seconds for the regionals but I'm predicting average for state being closer to 1:20. Let alone actually placing times, or other events.
Everyone takes state more seriously than their regional.

IMSA got 3rd last year i believe...is there anyone on this forum from IMSA? I hardly ever see kids from big schools frequently posting on scioly.org. SO4L is the only one from New Trier i've seen on here.

There's one kid from IMSA with an account, but he doesn't use it.
And how is IMSA any bigger than NCHS? :P jk, but I know what you mean... especially when it comes to the big teams at nationals.
Baw... I want to go to nationals at least once in my life...

Hey, be glad you have it as good as you do! There's so many hardworking competitors at schools with overall bad teams that can't even get past Regionals. The State competition is amazing enough as is...I can only imagine what Nats is like...
