Once you PM him, he may change it immediately. I couldn't log in for a few minutes after I asked because I didn't know he had changed it.

Username changes are not just done because. Whether they happen depends on if there is a good reason, the nature of the change (removing numbers, adding a space, or a complete change, etc), and how much the user has contributed to the site. I don't grant many because I think it just makes things confusing.
