Re: Ohio 2011
How was everybody's experience at WLS this past weekend? All of the events that I competed in were well run, and I didn't hear any teammates complain. It was a lot of work to set everything up, but it was well worth it.

2012 Events: Anatomy & Physiology, Disease Detectives, Elastic Gliders, Trees, Microbe Mission, Protein Modeling, Remote Sensing

Re: Ohio 2011
As a member of the Texas delegation, I was amazed by the quality - everything was run on time, every test was, if not well-written, at least there (I would say they all were well-written, and all the ones I encountered were, but one of my teammates has a number of complaints about one particular test so it wouldn't be accurate). More so, the fact that every single team seemed dedicated and prepared really boosted the atmosphere.
Finally: the awards ceremony. It started at 4:00! And it started not just on time, but early (so much so we arrived in the middle of Disease
)!! And it ended in 45 minutes! This was, to all of us, amazing.
I'm not a decision-maker on our team, but I think the general feeling is that we want to go back. And I, for one, loved it.

Re: Ohio 2011
Angstrom, the quality of Ohio's invitationals is often praised because these competitions are not often taken lightly. In fact, some would argue that these invitationals, given the experience of the coaches, have been known to run better than many Regional competitions. After all, when teams such as Centerville, Mentor, and Solon, (not to mention the dozens of other high-quality Ohio teams) write tests for invitationals, they are often challenging and spread the scores well. Also, these invitationals have been running regularly. Northmont, Mentor, and Solon have been running invitationals for quite a while. Although WLS is a relatively new invitational, the Ohio invitational "model" has been there for ages. Kudos to WLS for running a smooth invitational.Angstrom wrote:As a member of the Texas delegation, I was amazed by the quality - everything was run on time, every test was, if not well-written, at least there (I would say they all were well-written, and all the ones I encountered were, but one of my teammates has a number of complaints about one particular test so it wouldn't be accurate). Re: Ohio 2011
Good luck to anybody competing at Piqua regionals tomorrow(well, technically today). Hopefully we can make it to state, but for that to happen, I need to go sleep, because I have to be awake in like 4 hours, lol.
EDIT(to avoid double post):
We made it! I don't know how we made it, but we did.
1. Centerville
2. Beavercreek
3. West Liberty-Salem
4. Alder
5. Northmont(didn't qualify below that)
I forget what Centerville and Beavercreek did, but we tied Alder for third with 121 and had more 2nd places, and Northmont had 126. It was really close. Good job to everybody who competed, and good luck to everyone going to state.
