I actually found one of the bigger marbles that weighed almost exactly 20 grams

Don't think glass is the thing you want to be throwing around...

Glass may not be the best idea, but we found a hackey sack, and it works perfectly.

Another idea is to fill an old sock with weights, and tie the sock. That way you can easily change the weights.

I was going to do that however, the weights can easily shift inside the sock.

Edit: My advice is find a projectile for 20g,30g,40g,50g and 60g. They should be solid and not have the "insides" moving around in them. Right now, we have a tennis ball for 60g, this orange ball for 40g(best results) and a white ball for 50g.

I hope to get pictures up soon.

What we did was get a few plastic bags and fill them with weights and marbles. We then found a pencil bag and filled it with weights so that it was 1 pound. We then filled two plastic bags so they were each 1 pound, and one that was half a pound. If you wanted a two and half pound weight you added a second 1 pound bag and a half a pound bag, etc. A word of warning though, the plastic bags tended to rip, and the pencil bag's zipper sort of got destroyed from hitting the ground over and over again.

Also, the weights shifting inside the sock won't really affect anything, would it?

Well. It depends on the trebuchet. mostly.
I have a FAT trebuchet and it seems that it would effect how the projectile is thrown.

We tried that today and it seemed to work very well, and I also suggest for anyone, that clay is also a very good idea.
