Quick question, when do the trial events for nationals, approximately, get released? Also, does anyone have a strong feeling for which events could be there? Thanks :D!

they seem to really like using NY trial events for some reason... and since a lot of states all seem to be having maglev as a trial event, im guessing that's gonna be there.

New York's got Bottle Rockets, too, though that's far less likely to be a national trial.

In the past years I have thought that the conflicts were very cleverly made, but this year they seem like they are not the best arrangement. However, I really like that all teams have the same conflicts, I think that makes the competition as fair as possible. I just really hope the people in charge of the national tournament take a close look at the scheduling and make changes they deem proper.
Hey if you don't mind, could you post a link to national schedule? Or simply post the national schedule here? I'm very interested to see it
It is in the back of the rule packet your scool should have gotten. Technically it would be illegal for me to post the page on here. But, believe it or not, your school should have it.

What I notice about that schedule is that they didn't really give any thought towards similar events conflicting. The schedule was made... alphabetically. The events are listed alphabetically, with each succeeding event being one time slot before the previous one. I thought that schedules were supposed to put similar events in seperate time slots so the same people could do them... Maybe they are trying to avoid bias or something. Either way, I see some nasty conflicts for my team if we make it to nats this year.

Yeah, I think as a general rule they like to put the Earth Science/ID/Whatever category you want events in separate time slots so that people can do all of them. It doesn't do too much negative for me personally, but I can definitely see it making a negative impact for some people. I'll worry about it later though, we need to qualify for states first :) .

What I enjoy about the schedule is that all teams have the same exact conflicts. So all teams, instead of only some, have the same advantages and disadvantages. For the New York State competition, your team number can be the deciding factor in your placement.

Same in our state, they frequently have disadvantages to teams with lower team numbers. Because 7 out of 14 teams from by regionals make it to state, this was sort of an incentive to try hard on regionals, rather than blow them off.

In Kansas, I believe you're allowed to make a certain number of changes to your schedule so long as the timeslot you're changing to isn't full. It's rather handy.
