Yup lunch is optional. You can choose to starve. The school bypasses enticing starving by giving u a brownbag pass which allows you to get out of the first few min of class to go get lunch and eat it in class, but idk if people really do that.

Nobody's promoting starving...it's your choice whether or not you want to eat. Nobody's going to tell you that you have to eat...that's your own responsibility. The school isn't going to babysit you, by high school you should be able to figure out if you should or shouldn't eat.Pleiades wrote:so you dont have to take lunch? you just starve the whole day? that sounds like it's promoting skipping meals. If someone was caught skipping lunch at my school then they would get trouble for wandering the hall during class hen they would also have to eat their lunch in guidance for two weeks. it's happened before at my school. After a few offenses you have to go to some eating disorder prevention thing. I dont really know the details.
Even if they forced everyone to take a lunch, people that didn't want to eat still wouldn't.
But most people that don't take a lunch still eat. They just find other times to. Usually between classes, or during class if the teacher allows it (most seem to).
People don't forego a lunch because they don't want to eat...most people would take a lunch anyway, because it's a free period. It's because they're highly academically motivated and want to take an extra class (I'm not that motivated though, I guess).
Our school is so big they can't just have a centralized lunch time though...lunch periods are 4 through 8...if you choose to take lunch you get one of those periods. 4th starts at 9:30 AM, 8th starts at 12:50 PM.
You can't just skip lunch though, as in leaving the cafeteria, as they don't want you wandering the halls. You can go to see a teacher or to the library, however.

idk some people don't take lunch so they could get more credits. I even might end up doing it next year or the year after prob.

Meh, it's not the graduating credits per se, as they really mean nothing (NYS requires 22, which almost everyone has more than).smartkid222 wrote:idk some people don't take lunch so they could get more credits. I even might end up doing it next year or the year after prob.

But if it'll let you take an extra class that either you find interesting or will help you, then it's good. Most people probably take an additional AP class, which usually equates to college credit.

Re: Weird things that have happened at you school?
Do you guys have like one credit per class or something? my school gives you 5 credis if you pass a full year course and 2.5 for the half year courses. I dont like that my school has only 6 blocks to schedule in. So like if i wanted to take all 5 major subjects and then say an AP course then i wouldn't be able to take anything else such as an elective.

Re: Weird things that have happened at you school?
One credit is one full year course. A semester course is 1/2 credit.
You only have six periods, but it's not block scheduling (they meet every day)? That's weird. We have 9 periods that meet every day (except for gym, that's every other day - unless you want to take gym twice...).
