It can be achieved, but it takes a lot of work. I chose to go by way of self-inflicted punishment. Its rather effective too.

When you go to the homecoming game, and instead of ogling hot cheerleaders, you think about the physics of why spiraling a football results in better throws...

And, when you go on a flight and look up the wind velocity so that you can find the velocity and heading of your plane...

I'm so jealous of you. Why don't we get hot cheerleaders?
On the other hand, I prefer looking at girls to thinking about the physics of sports. Does that make me not a nerd? *hopeful*
