I'll help. It's about satellite imagery. You're asked questions about imaging satellites (like LANDSAT) and given images that you have to interpret. You're also given questions about the human impact on earth, (global warming/climate change) and much of the image interpretation has to do with human impact. For example, you're given two satellite pictures of an area of rain forest in different years and you have to calculate the percent that has been cut down. Or the square miles that a glacier has shrunk. Or asked about what band certain satellite sensors operate on. Or list five sources of greenhouse gases. I recommend knowing your electromagnetic spectrum.

how would one calculate that?

Thanks, that was a big help. But I repeat quizbowl's question- how would you calculate that.

There are many ways. You could use a grid to calculate how much of the area was covered by forest in each of the pictures, and calculate the percent decrease. You could count the number of trees in each picture, and calculate the percent decrease. You could visually overlay the pictures on top of each other, and highlight places where trees disappeared, calculate the area, and calculate the percent decrease. Depends on the situation.

I'm wondering how much map reading will be involved, percentage-wise.
