According to a rules clarification I sent a while ago:
Yes, however it will be of little use in helping ID the birds, it lacks any
of the usual visual or other information needed to identify individual bird
species in the field.

The original question is included for your records; there is no need to
respond unless you feel there is an error.

ORIGINAL MESSAGE:

Would "The Sibley Guide to Bird Life & Behavior" be acceptable as a field
guide to take to the competition?

It's good for notes and studying, but not good for identification as much.

So? If you can easily ID all the birds on the list, then it might be a good idea to use it in competition.

I agree with that.
PS: Amerikestrel, you should look at the file name for the American Kestrel picture on the wiki. You are in for a surprise!

Yes but are you going to trust yourself to be able to identify around 200 birds?? That's insane.

True. I certainly can't do that, and most people probably can't, but if you can it would be helpful to use the SBLB. At the very least they could shorten the list for next year. :|
