Well last year in Georgia, they had a story about Jack Bauer (never watched 24. Don't know how to spell his name) trying to stop some villan who was trying to poison the water for the nationals competition so we would all be too tired to compete. The test included the Georgia highway map and a few topos near the campus of the competition. So in one word, yes. i think they will probably use the illinios state map.

Does anyone else use a map scale wheel? We use one (for those of you who don't know, you can set the scale and roll it along the map to measure things) but have never seen anyone else using one.

It's based on latitude and longitude but it's not exactly the same. Latitude and longitude serve as reference points from where the distances are calculated. That should help you a bit to understanding it.

Thanks, but I still have a few questions.
First, when writing the coordinates,do you need to inculde mE or mN?
If you don't have a grid ruler, can you just use the same formula for longitude/latitude?
And where is the zone info on the map?
