Multiple rings would be nice, but may not be feasible. Current rules (at least in NY) require each bot to have three selectable channels. If you get multiple rings with multiple bots using the same frequency, that's trouble.

I made some plans for a tower but realized that I had know idea of what would be a good score for Towers [I know what is good in boom/bridges but the only national score sheet I found at my score had weird scores on them winning score was in 9000’s I knew that year must have had different score system], my guess is anything over 2000 is great [seen some booms/bridges that place high at Nat’s with that score] is my assumption correct? Also anyone think they will switch to beam building next year to replace the bridge?

Actually, towers have the potential to have much higher efficiency than bridges, the current event.

It depends on the dimentions. On the easy 2007 rules the NY#1 was over 3500, which is absolutly crazy; 2000 would be considered an excellent score (top 5 at states i guess) . On the harder 2008 rules, the NY #1 was about 2500 and anything over 1500 would be considered an excellent score (top 5 at states).

does anyone no wat trials r goona become national events? cuz the supervisor for car of tomorrow at states said that they are voting on it to be a national event next year. any other ones?

interesting. Is car of tomorrow a strictly B event? Do you think they will make an exception to C? because that sounds super awesome/cool. maglev car? woah.

With respect to Car of Tomorrow, Sumobots, and other new tech events.

One of the considerations is always the amount of money required to get the supplies so the school can compete. While I'm sure that many schools build their Sumobots from scratch (at minimal cost) others do not have the experience and end up with a kit. The kits can get expensive. Car of Tomorrow is the same, buying a maglev track so you can practice.

I'm hoping that the Natl people continue to pay careful attention to the cost of the "new" events so they keep SO within reach of the schools that may be financially burdened.

Other than that, I'm more of a traditionalist when it comes to event styles. I would rather see the build events be task based and not head to head (sorry Sumobots). I would be more interested in seeing a robot ramble style event that uses a remote camera for guidance (similar to the Mars Rovers or the military drone aircraft). Allow everyone except the participants to se their robot operate and make the teams run their robots via closed circut TV (or webcam, TV behind a screen, etc)
