Trajectory may rotate out for Sounds of Music.
ornithology, forestry, entomology, triple E, green generation, water quality, dynamic planet (lakes & rivers), awesome aquifers, meteorology, robot arm, write it do it. :)

Trajectory will likely not be an event next year.

Sumo Bots seems like an amazingly fun event, I hope it does come in next year. And I'm also slightly curious to what the topic of Disease may be, but I'm not to worried about it.
2011 Events: Anatomy & Physiology, Disease Detectives, Ecology, Microbe Mission, Mission Possible, Optics, Birds, Protein Modeling, Technical Problem Solving
2012 Events: Anatomy & Physiology, Disease Detectives, Elastic Gliders, Trees, Microbe Mission, Protein Modeling, Remote Sensing

Most likely, it'll be Food-borne Illnesses.

i love ecology too :)
ecology is always there, they just switch the two biomes every year. this year, obviously, was taiga and grasslands, and next year i believe is taiga and tundra. they always keep one and switch the other.
Events for 2011:
Ornithology <3, Fossils, Ecology, Microbe Mission, Dynamic Planet

Ok, that would be cool to run SumoBots during the judging/scoring, way better than sitting around for two/three hours being bored. And double elimination...hmmmm....

Speaking of double elimination and getting to run devices (like Wright Stuff and EggONaut) twice for your scores... why doesn't Mission Possible get two chances?

Hang out with teammates, and if at nats, go out and see campus, get something to eat...

Though sumo bots during judging scoring is a good idea.

I'm with AustinRHL...I would think the scheduling and scoring for SB would be a nightmare. Hey, everyone does think Mission Possible will be back next year, right?

I like Electrical Vehicle, I still miss it.
I do think that MP will be back next year and hopefully much much much more difficult than it was this year. ...

I guess you thought it was too easy?

MP easy? Well call me a hick and serve me up some texas toast.

Anyway, penclspinner...u it's very easy to test for sumo bots. BUILD MULTIPLE ROBOTS. Yes, expensive, but even just 2 will be good enough to see the flaws in your design and wat u should change. And just make a rink, 5 foot x 5 foot square, with some tape in your garage, sci oly coaches classroom, w/e...not to mention, invitationals should offer a lot of experience as well. If your design is good, itll make it past a few rounds at least, and you'll be able to see any problems, or things you could make better.

As for scoring and judging, first of, now scoring involved. Tier the bots first, and then theres an elimination tournament or something...so ya, its pretty easy to rank the bots.

As for scheduling, just do it during the scoring for other events. The rounds are like 2 min each. Just have two or three rinks set up and have a judge at each, this event is NOT hard to judge, just read the rules. Start the battles, and with 3 rinks, i can tell you that even a national tournament with 60 teams won't take TOO much time. And as for a regional tournament with, say, 16 teams, it wouldn't be a problem at all.

Plz let there be Sumo bots next....

Multiple rings would be nice, but may not be feasible. Current rules (at least in NY) require each bot to have three selectable channels. If you get multiple rings with multiple bots using the same frequency, that's trouble.
