I would like that, and it could help you to become exalted.

The conditions of being exalted are far different then those of having 4 stars.

To become exalted one has to contribute a large amount to the image gallery, wiki, or the code of the forums.

I understand that, but if even the moderators think that you are one of the most helpful people on the site, shouldn't you get a chance at exaltation?

Also, there should be a forum for study events in the gallery. That way, in Birds, for instance, you could look at every bird on the list in one place.

I believe the wiki would be better for that. For example, you could compile pictures of all the birds on the list, and make a new page for them, which you could link to on the main event page.

 yeah, now we have a topic about karma going. I mean, I guess I asked for it...

I completely agree. People say "READ THE THREAD!" without realizing how long it actually takes to read it. (I mean, come on. When Balsa and Greg told me (and all the other newbies) "Read the forum", it was 60 pages. I spent a good 2 hours reading the first half, and there was way too much repetition.) Bridge won't be around next year, I don't believe (I could be mistaken), but we do need a sub-forum for next year's balsa event.

If we had a sub-forum:

a) There wouldn't be so much repetition, seeing as it would be much easier to find things
b) It would be easier to check if our questions had been asked before
Yeah, the balsa event will probably get its own sub-forum. None of the other events seem to have unmanageable threads, so that would probably be the only new sub-forum for Building Events.

I think the score tracker could be advertised better. Its a really good tool, only practically nobody uses it. Especially for study events.
I don't know how to advertise it better really...
Of the ~100,000 times the Main Page of the wiki was viewed in the last year, ~20,000 of those came from the icon in the top right, which hasn't been there that long. I don't know of any better advertisement than being an inch to the right of the wiki link :?

When we have a pretty solid idea of the event roster, which occurs somewhere between those two times.

Sounds like a wiki page to me.

Good stuff, other suggestions?

I hate to keep going on about the Score Tracker, but what about adding overall team scores?

could work, but tough to gauge at all because certain regions are A. More competitive B. run different events c. May drop scores D. Be required to only run a certain # of events (like a team picks say 18 out of 20 events to do). Really the tracker seems only useful for builds.

EDIT: I think karma has it's benefits, useful threads in GC like this one, people could get credit and not-so-useful counting threads could not give people an easy way to raise post count. Though I do think zyzzyva has a point, people who aren't as knowledgeable about everything and can't write a page on it but still try could get downgraded....and It could be abused (raise your friends?....I'd think mods would be able to control that though)

I get the feeling that the Score Tracker just has one REALLY big problem right now:

There's not enough data! A large number of our active posters are from the same few teams, so every time that team attends a competition, we get ONE added item per event. There are maybe 50 active teams, maybe only really 5 teams who actively post in each event thread. So, if a typical team goes to 1 invitational, 1 regional, and 1 state, assuming EVERYBODY adds to the tracker (which isn't even close to happening), we get 15 items per event. The score tracker is pretty close to obsolete for study events and lab events (but Physics Lab), as mentioned earlier, so for non-trials, we get 120 items if everyone participates. We get maybe 10% participation? That's the problem. So DS, you're right, it is hard to advertise...but the current system just doesn't seem to work.
