My wing nut isn't moving on the axle. Any advice to get it to move towards the wheels?

First, spin your wheel. Does the threaded axle spin? if not then make it spin and your wing nut will move. If it does spin then look at your wing nut now. Is there a bar next to the wing nut to keep it in place? If not then you need to put one there. Check out the nicely made scrambler wiki for a visual of this.

Of course I spin it, after I spin it nothing happens... As for the suspension rod, I don't have one but I really don't see the point of it. Could somebody explain? Just so you know heres what I do, I get my thread axle, put on the wingnut, attach the wheels, Roll it on the floor. After it dosn't brake I see if the wingnut moved, It dosn't...

You NEED the supsension rod inorder for the brake to work.
What happens is if you don't have it the axle and the nut both move, so basiclly nothing moves compared to the other. You have to get the wingnut not to spin, while the axle spins so the nut is moving comapred to the axle. If you put a suspension rod what it does is it doesn't allow the nut to spin, so it moves up and down the axle. think about when your putting a nut on a screw or something, you twist the nut onto the axle, but you don't twist the nut AND the axle, if you do it won't move. You can also screw the nut onto the screw if you only turn the screw, without turning the nut. Its the same thing that happens on your axle. Y
Yes I know its kind of confusing but trust me, just put a suspension rod on it and the break system will work.

Also what are you guys doing for traction on wheels, other than rubber bands?

Thanks for the help, I'll tell you my results once I make it, I'm pretty sure its rubber bands, Also if your using the wing nut method like Me I hear adding sponge at the end stops skidding.

i made a video, well, at least attempted to make a video on why you need that rod. it would have had words in it if i could get my camera to work right. i'll edit this post to the video once it's done uploading.
EDIT/ Video The first part is with the rod and the second part is without.
