How do you tell the difference between smooth, skeletal, and cardiac muscle. I know that the skeletal and cardiac muscle have striations while the smooth doesn't but what else? I also know that cardiac is branched while smooth is pretty linear. I can't tell the difference when the pictures are small such as the one on SOninja's test. Is there a way to tell under a microscope as well, just in case we have to do that.

Look at the nuclei. And the shape. Like, cardiac muscle cells are branched.

you shouldn't it says only "label the basic surface anatomy of a bone as shown on a diagram and/or a regular xray" but you never know. So just kinda look over it.

The CT Scan has become an important adjunct to x-rays. The CT Scan uses multiple x-ray beams projected at many angles in conjunction with computer resources to create three-dimensional cross-sectional images. Each image or picture reveals a different level of tissue that resembles slices.

No it is a series of xrays that form a single image therefore i would not consider it a normal xray as it says in the rules

I just had the an test today! and got First in state =) does anyone else hate the advancement system? cuz even though me and my partner got first, we wont advance since our team wont place.

I think there might be talk about this in the National Qualification thread, but in general, I think the advancement system should stay the way it is. If we change anything, if we make "all star teams" where the first place in every event come together as one team to represent the state, that would destroy the spirit of Science Olympiad. That system would serve me quite well, but it would be awkward to work with people from different schools and the only thing uniting you guys is the state you come from. So yeah, I don't hate the advancement system. It gets annoying sometimes, but I never hate it.
