I have a completely separate tab for each genus. I go in order of the Fossil's List as well.eshyu wrote:Hey I know this is out of the blue but how did you guys sort your binders???

Re: Fossils B/C
For topics, I go in the order, more or less, of the rule sheet. Related topics go together. For fossils, it's in order of the list. The most important thing is that you know where everything is in competition.

Re: Fossils B/C
I just took a practice test and got confused on one question:
1. What is the name of the major group of invertebrates that can be described as having variable shapes, including horn-like, tube - like, and tree-like shapes?
Options were: Sponges, Corals, Arthropods.
I ruled out arthropods, but then both sponges and corals have variable shapes...corals have horned corals (rugose) but it asked for a major group and Porifera are a phylum while cnidaria isnt all corals...wat do you guys think? I put sponges.

Re: Fossils B/C
With those choices, I'd probably say Corals. It asked for a group, not the phylum, so coral seemed right. There are corals with all three of those shapes.lllazar wrote:I just took a practice test and got confused on one question:

Btw, how complicated will they get on anatomy at state?...by this i mean will they ask about stuff like polyps for Cnidaria? Im going as specific as i can for remodeling my Genus pages, im up to Arthropods right now...hopefully done with Inverts by tomorrow...

Re: Fossils B/C
The fossils test at regionals today was a joke. Honestly, 90% of the questions could be answered by just using the fossil list. Each station had a piece of paper on it with a picture and 1-2 questions (there weren't any real specimens, even though there were literally hundreds of fossils on shelves around the room). There was a bonus question on Homo neanderthalensis, but there was just a picture of the skeleton that we had to identify. There was also a picture of a reptile (it was just a reproduction, not even a skeleton) that looked like a cross between a plesiosaur, mosasaur, and ichthyosaur. Eventually we said plesiosaur, but we weren't really sure. Other than that, it was very easy.
