What's the best place to apply heat (or cold) to a bimetallic strip for the greatest effect?

Re: Endothermic Task
Wouldn’t you be able to use the heated side of the peltier to do this action? It’s the endothermic action causing the other side to get hot... therefore, I don’t see why this wouldn’t be allowed...
Also, does anyone have a diagram of how to make a transistor switch? Or just pm it to me if you don ...

Re: Glue
Is gorilla glue inherently better than cyanoacrylate?
depends on what part of the boomi you're gluing. gorilla glue is heavier than CA and it's stronger, but gorilla glue isn't necessary for the bracing, where CA will do the job. however, gorilla glue is a good idea for the base especially, and ...

Re: Infrared Task
I was just thinking the same thing. They simply say to "use an infrared beam" to start the next action. Pretty ambiguousfirework wrote:Does anyone think an infrared break-beam is legit? The rules don't ever specify that you must turn on the beam.

Re: Endothermic Task
Does anyone have a good way of activating something from the temperature change? We're trying to use a peltier cooler right now, but it isn't producing enough of a change to switch a bimetallic thermostat (switches at 15 C).
Do you have good thermal contact between the cold side of your peltier ...

Re: PICTURES, SCORES, VIDEOS!!
Right now I've seen many teams trying to replicate Boomilever designs that our team uses, along with Stevenson. It's hilarious how they think copying our designs is all there is to it as they have been getting sub 400 scores while top teams in IL are maintaining 800+ scores. So far I'd say the ...
