Re: 9th Graders in Division B
I don't think my brother implied that... he's saying that 8th graders can be just as good as everyone else, including freshmen. He's trying to show examples where 8th graders performed extremely well at the national level to support his point that 9th graders aren't needed to make a good team. 9th ...

Re: Duct Tape Challenge B/C [NY TRIAL]
If only we had duct tape in Mystery Architecture. But nooo. we get the crappy scotch tape We had duct tape for LISO but weight was the primary dimension of the bridge so it might not always be a good thing...... First place was ~3 grams iirc. We used 1 full popsicle stick and barely elevated each s...

Re: Mystery Architecture B
For a cantilever, what kind do they mean, and what are some examples of a fulcrum and a support? Can it be attached to a table and hang off the edge? Also, what are some good ways to practice for this event? Thank you. For a cantilever, it would be a bridge like structure that holds a weight at one...

What information is helpful to have for the competition? There's a lot you need for Road Scholar but mostly is based on personal preference. But some helpful stuff would be: -USGS symbol sheet -PLSS sheet -Highway Maps symbols, any and all you can find -And really any tests you can find because you...

Re: Those moments you will never forget!
In the hotel before Harvard, and my friend's sink getting clogged. We went to the coach's room and their door was open so we furiously knocked...no reply. Then we went to another coach's room, well we thought it was his room at least, and knocked, and a random man came out looking really pigeon at u...

Re: Road Scholar B
Does anyone have any advice regarding international maps? How can you prepare a binder for this without getting a legend for the map of every single country. Thanks! I've never seen international maps, even at the national level. Even so, unless you can read all the languages, the ESs would provide...

Re: Road Scholar B
Hello! I Have 2 questions. 1) I seem to be better at Highway Map and struggle with topographic ones. Does anyone have any tips for studying for these maps? For example reference links or tricks regarding the map itself? 2) Last competition my partner and I had some trouble dealing with the time asp...

Re: Mystery Architecture B
Hello!
I was wondering if anybody knew how to build a tunnel? I get a general concept but am still unsure of how to successfully build one. How would you practice for one? Would it carry a load? If anyone has made one before, at the competition or not, any tips help.
Thanks
