Our basketball team got to take buses to their regional competition instead of us going to state and gave us the chance to go with our high school team and the other middle school team (which was competitive). We declined the offer and had to carpool for the 3 hour drive down. :(

Are competitors allowed to lift up the mirror covers a little bit for alignment purposes?
I'd say no. I see the mirror covers as a way so that you can't look at the mirrors and see the laser pointer (because of how it reflects). But maybe that's not the purpose. I guess the supervisor may see that ...

The rules don't really say anything about history, and who stuff was named after, but I guess if you're supposed to know like apparent magnitude, Hipparchus doing it could fall under that range of knowledge.
