Re: Fossils B/C
It is at times if the test maker is good and there are real samples. My first invite was pretty intense and I was feeling terrible (because of the flu, you know :( ). We had to identify which dinosaur bone went to which which is like crazy because I hate anatomy (it's cool 'cause we need it, but I ...

What is vitiligo?
Also, name one famous person who "had" it.
Totally forgot about this too!
where the melanocytes in the epidermis are destroyed by an autoimmune disease. MJ had it!
Correction: MJ "had" it. ;)
Wasn't there also a model or something who had it legitimately? I think her name is ...

Re: New York 2015
I feel like this year is the year my high school will finally make it to States. My middle school team made it twice consecutively, and our team has a lot of potential. Hopefully the Eastern LI Regionals will treat us well and we'll make it!

Re: Fossils B/C
Sorry to bother everybody again, but I have another question. Would the Audubon Field Guide to North American Fossils be a useful resource to help study for this event? :|
I personally like the Audubon field guides a lot, but it's not really recommended by officials. Though any detailed field ...

I like using the PowerPoint on soinc.org. It really helps me remember a lot of the material, and it's worked out well medal-wise for me in the past.

Re: Fossils B/C
I got put into Fossils, and with our regional competition only about 6 weeks away, I just wanted to reach out for some help. Does anyone have any study tips for this event? (Is a binder good? Are flashcards better?) I really want to place, and I know many of you are masters at this, so I thought I ...

Re: Weird Moments At Science Olympiad Competitions
At Regionals last year, my friend and I were partners in Chemistry of Food (it was a trial event). The whole event was an absolute disaster. First of all, we didn't know we had to build a calorimeter until the night before (kudos to my friend for building it). Then, once the event started, we had to ...

Re: Worst books
The worst book I've ever read would have to be one I was made to read in fifth grade called Hatchet by Gary Paulsen. It was pretty terrible. I also didn't care for Great Expectations, and have a general disdain for bildungsromans and any other coming-of-age stories.
