I see reference to Stephens Lobby for the GGSO flying site but can't see where they posted the ceiling height. Also, was the ceiling clean and valuable?
Thanks,
Brian T.
Ceiling height was approximately 15 ft, the ceiling was nothing special but it was mostly clear of obstructions.

Re: Helicopters C
This is going to sound crazy, but any advice on hand cranking? Anyone have any tips or know how to build a winder? I don't think I will have one by the time regionals comes around, although I am doing my best to try and get my hands on one.

Re: Freedom Flight Kit
Approximately how many winds should the rubber & motor stick be able to take, maximum? Let's say with a 1g motor of the thin rubber in the FFM kit.

Re: Types of Glues
In almost every scenario, CA glue is the best (though specific thicknesses of CA glue work differently). The only situation I can think of where something else has been used successfully is in Boomilever, where some competitors used gorilla glue to attach the tension piece at the top, since gorilla ...

Re: Mousetrap Vehicle C
Let's get this thread rolling again... What sized axles are people using? I've been using 1/4in, but I'm considering moving down to save weight. Also, has anyone found light threaded rods that don't bend a lot?
I like to use 1/4" carbon fiber rods. They are incredibly light and strong.

Ward science kits are never competitive and are always overpriced. Dave's kits are much better in quality and will build much better helicopters.tm-scioli wrote:I noticed wardsci posted a kit. Anybody have any idea what it's like/whether it's worth getting?

Re: Carbon Fiber VS Wooden Spars
So FFM last year introduced CF officially in their kits. However, with testing, it seemed that while CF provided better airflow and cut the drag better, it was very susceptible to instability and tipping sometimes. In regards to the bonus this year, I would like to ask the Helicopters forum how ...

Re: Helicopters C
Since a chinook design would have two rubber motors, it would seem that you would almost certainly forego the 5% bonus on prep time, but trading for a 2.5X kicker, probably worth it. Perhaps both team members need to wind in tandem!

I believe it was 2:38 and no bonus as far as I know. I just heard the time from someone else so I'm not sure it's correct.Raleway wrote:Anyone know the national winning time? I know 5th was 2:21
