Re: Scrambler C
I have a question about rule 2c. It says, "Any part of the Scrambler whose gravitational potential energy decreases and provides energy to propel the ETV is considered to be part of the falling mass...the Scrambler must be impounded with the mass completely detached" Does this mean that an...

Re: Dynamic Planet B/C
This is my first year doing dynamic planet, and my partner and I winged it at regionals. We got lucky, and did pretty good, but I would want to risk it for state. What would be some good links, and some stuff to study that's not on the wiki or soinc links? :) thanks so much! And I saw earlier on th...

Re: MagLev C
I have not yet rebuilt my car after frying a 25Ω 3W voltage divider from Radioshack. I do have a 5Ω 50W rheostat that I bought from Amazon, but I still have to build the cart to see if it will work.

Re: MagLev C
Could someone please explain why the online instructions to build a track say to have opposite polarity magnets on the opposite sides?

Re: Scioly Summer Study Session 2013
I sent in a Chem lab test a week or so ago, and it was a pretty small file. I have not received a reply or access to the tests. Should I resend it?foreverphysics wrote:Please, give us Chem Lab stuff. We have exactly...zero.

Re: MagLev C
I'm pretty sure the car was barely 250g, and I heard from my friend that they used 1 prop.

The ES also said 0.2 seconds, which makes more sense.BYHscioly wrote:I was just at the NJ State competition and the winning team apparently got 0.02 seconds for a 0.75m track...
I forgot to use a wedge to balance the track, or we could have probably gotten first with a score of about 1300 rather than 960

Re: MagLev C
Has anyone else had difficulty weighing their vehicle, the magnets seem to affect the electronic scale that we have been using? We had to use a block of foam on the scale under the vehicle, not sure if we can trust the readings. If you don't care about precision too much, just use a bathroom scale....

Re: MagLev C
but the thrust is relatively low (only about 1N apiece); Have you had success building a rig to test the force, or are you just measuring the pull of the vehicle? I'm estimating based on the motion of a cart along a track And why the ducted fans? The diameter limit seems like it doesn't make it wor...
