For anyone who's had a test yet, for the pictures of pines on your test, did you have to ID pictures of faraway photos? Or close-up photos of the needle? Just FYI: The Montana sci oly state competition is the first one held every year (it was in November) and me and my partner got gold in forestry. How the event was set up was about 15 stations with leaves and other parts to identify (there were always leaves or needles). Then there were 2 or 3 quest...

Can anyone tell the difference between the Limber Pine and the Whitebark Pine? They seem so identical... They both have bundles of five needles, so to tell the difference you have to see the cones. Whitebark Pine cones are shorter, dark purple when immature, and don't open when they dry. This means...
