Re: Bottle Rocket B
Does moving the fins toward the nose make the rocket unstable? Or will the rocket fly okay as long as the CP is ahead of the center of gravity?
First of all, the CP should definitely stay BEHIND the center of gravity. Otherwise, the rocket will not be stable at all and flip over almost ...

Re: Bottle Rocket B
Hi Everyone,
We are trying to coach bottle rockets for the first time. Can anyone please share their times? We are consistently getting about 17 secs. Is this on the low range, or this is what everyone else is also averaging about.
We have one that consistently gets 18.5 secs, but we're not done ...

Re: Storm the Castle B
Is there any advantage to having the axle offset not directly in line with the rest off the arm in a FAT, say, above or below the arm.
_______.___ if the under scores represent the arm with the dot representing an offset axle.
----------.---- or the same here with the dashes representing the arm ...

Re: Storm the Castle B
I'm comparing it to the sling length and i'm using a fat trebuchet.
I think with a general FAT, the throwing arm length over sling length should be around 1/1 or less, but only your testing with your specific trebuchet will tell the best ratio. Keep in mind that the sling length is the length from ...

Re: Storm the Castle B
Which is better: a longer throwing arm or a shorter? :ugeek:
Try to be a little more specific, because the answer to that question depends on many other factors. What are you comparing it to (i.e. sling length or counterweight arm)? And what type of trebuchet are you using (i.e. hcw, fcw, fat, etc ...
