Re: Dynamic Planet B/C
How many "trivia" type questions have you guys run into? My last test was written by a crazy coach, so I had to know things like the formation of Lake Baikal, Lake Pepin, Lake Victoria, Lake Vostok and others, as well as what they all are famous for. Possibly the strangest question asked "in which ...

Re: Microbe Mission B/C
For live ID's, the only one I've gotten was Yeast, which is pretty basic. No test proctor is actually going to have live Anthrax cultures for students to ID or anything, that would be really dangerous. In regards to the Gram staining, I would recommend actually doing a few yourself. I've gotten ...

Re: Microbe Mission B/C
How in-depth do we have to go about each microbe? My mother is a microbiologist and is making me catalog the hemolysis and catalase results of every bacteria on my note sheet, as well as knowing about all the different types of staining, not just gram staining. Is this too much?

Re: Cell Bio C
So, I have access to my state test, but it is just questions from various sites and from the Cambell Reece books. And it's 400-ish questions. Is it worth it to put up?

Yeah, I just found that out. I tried actually reading the AP Bio book and I learned a few things. Who knew? I'm wondering what school you are from, Ostonzi, since I didn't know anyone from around us was on the forums.

Re: Cell Bio C
On one of my last invitational tests, it listed a series of DNA sequences and asked which was the most stable. How do you tell if a sequence is stable? There were no issues in matching base pairs or stuff like that.

Amerikestrel, the air sacs increase the efficiency of the lungs so air only goes in one direction through the system. It goes in to the lungs, then out of the lungs via the air sacs so the bird can extract more oxygen during a cycle.

Re: Environmental Chem
So, I get to do this event at Nationals with no experience because my state doesn't have it as an event. I was wondering if we have to know about alfisols and ultisols and other types of soil. I hope not, because they are confusing.
